Ahh did he or did the Chief of Police? And that is Ed Koch

no
Though was it our state that was fighting against documentation proving who you are (ie driving license) when you go and vote(even though you could obtain them for free) - reason given making another obstacle for people to vote !!!

So I could go and vote illegally (and no I'm sorry no links as I can't remember where it was!)

Why the US voting system can't be the same as the UK's with stringent security checking you are who you are, and easy to understand ballots with no hanging chad's
So yes I am jealous of you being back in the more 'advanced' country when it comes to voting

Me too! Apparently there is such a thing as a conservative (with small 'c') liberal (I think that means you can vote Deomocrat or Republican )I like the sound of that.

Would be nice to have country-wide healthcare for all US Citizens, however. But bear in mind, that the commander-in-chief has only the power to sign or reject such a proposal IF it gets through the house and senate. Now there are the votes you should really be concerned with.

A Political Swinger ;-)
Universal healthcare is what the politicians call it. I didn't call it that. No, that's not why I'm voting for him, but I like the idea. I'm voting for him on the strength of what he has to say in his book, The Audacity of Hope. If you haven't read it, it's worth taking the time before rejecting him based on spin. About time we had a prez with a few braincells to rub together AND a dollop of integrity. What a thought!

Yes, I dream. I was listening to NPR's documentary on the fight for desegregation today as I drove home from work. Had me in tears that people could be so... unspeakable, and unspeakably dumb. And so recently.

I'm a swinger too. I swing between hope and despair...

Regards

WONDERFUL SHOW!

Frankly, I find him scary, not Osama.......he will not get in for a few reasons, one being that he's black, yes I know, but threaten the crackers with a black prez or Billiary and they'll have everyone including exhuming their great grandma to go and vote.

Sad to say, but it he reality in most parts of this country.

Please, Scarlett, tell me that is not the reason why you would vote for him. A book? What was written in a book? How do you know it was written by him? How do you know what is in it is not all hype to get the public's attention for just this purpose. Books are fictional. We don't know what he thinks, feels, believes, can do, can't do. He hasn't been tried and his feet are still wet.

Please rethink this.

Just to play Devil's Advocate here..
Aren't they ALL untried? Shoot, we had one that we'd tried and that didn't seem to get him not elected, or ensure that he did a good job.

Of course, I'm the gal who thought Ross Perot had a good idea the first time round too....

I soooo agree with you...and by the next election there will be 3 extra votes from this household.

Quoted for truth. Lack of experience in this election race should have no bearing on the final outcome. It will, but it shouldn't. Not one single candidate in this election has ever been the leader of the free world. Ergo, not one of them has enough experience.

IMO, lack of experience is a boon. The less time spent in DC, the less chance they've had of painting you with Capitol Hill's Sleaz-o (tm).
