Ah, I'm apolitical when it comes to the US, IMO they're both the same party - but having lived under Jeb, I doubt there is anyone in the state that will tell you that he was a bad governor - he was a fairly good one. I hope this one is even better.

I believe that's a contradiction in terms, Ray, me old fruit. Almost as bizarre as the phrase reasonable Republican.

When the next Commander-in-Chief, Barack Obama, brings in universal healthcare, I hope you'll remember to thank him--and me for voting for him!

Ahhh another one who dreams the dream.

Why in heaven's name would anyone want to vote into the highest office someone who is untried, too young, inexperienced, tongue-tied and amaterish (among the nicer things I can say about him). Based on the platform that he wants universal healthcare? Hope you don't think the US is going to fund healthcare for the universe. Would be nice to have country-wide healthcare for all US Citizens, however. But bear in mind, that the commander-in-chief has only the power to sign or reject such a proposal IF it gets through the house and senate. Now there are the votes you should really be concerned with.

Yikes! I lived through his administration as NY Mayor. The only reason the country knows about him is because of September 11th. Otherwise he, too, would be a non-name non-remembered politican.

Why in heaven's name did they vote into the highest office a military deserter and untreated drug addict, who was born with a silver spoon in Connecticut but pretends to be a Texas rancher, who claims to be an Xtian but seems to enjoy killing people, and who has failed in every single endeavor he has taken on.

There's no accounting for electorate taste, me thinks.

Maybe but it did happen and that proved to me he had compassion and was a leader that could inspire people to follow him.
I remember beforehand him standing up to the 'mob' re bin men etc also a lot of other 'controversial' issues he took a stand on and usually came out winning.
I like where he stands on issues, on Larry King he came across well, apologised and seemed likable. He may be a bit light on experience for the top job but he's intelligent and I think looking at all the other candidates he'd be the best leader.

The only similarity with the other "loser" was the birthplace and silver spoon.

I hate Hilary, Obama's a joke (no experience and is been given a free ride by the press - no hard interview yet)
John McCain I like but is too old, and I don't like the others in the Republican race (either too Political ie don't trust them, or never heard of them)
Also I think we need someone strong to beat Hilary (I did say I hated her?:D )

Well I voted for that loser and he still lose....go figure.

Hey we don't really have a vote that counts anyway so what the heck. As seen in the last election whichever candidate/party has the most to offer in kickbacks is the one that will be made president. Definitely not the voters' choice.

Well when you're District Attorney that's your job. Nothing extraordinary about that job performance.

no :D
Though was it our state  that was fighting against documentation proving who you are (ie driving license) when you go and vote(even though you could obtain them for free) - reason given making another obstacle for people to vote !!!

So I could go and vote illegally :D  (and no I'm sorry no links as I can't remember where it was!)

Why the US voting system can't be the same as the UK's with stringent security checking you are who you are, and easy to understand ballots with no hanging chad's
So yes I am jealous of you being back in the more 'advanced' country when it comes to voting :D

Me too! Apparently there is such a thing as a conservative (with small 'c') liberal (I think that means you can vote Deomocrat or Republican:confused: )I like the sound of that.

Universal healthcare is what the politicians call it. I didn't call it that. No, that's not why I'm voting for him, but I like the idea. I'm voting for him on the strength of what he has to say in his book, The Audacity of Hope. If you haven't read it, it's worth taking the time before rejecting him based on spin. About time we had a prez with a few braincells to rub together AND a dollop of integrity. What a thought!

Yes, I dream. I was listening to NPR's documentary on the fight for desegregation today as I drove home from work. Had me in tears that people could be so... unspeakable, and unspeakably dumb. And so recently.

I'm a swinger too. I swing between hope and despair...

Re: Raymond

WONDERFUL SHOW!

Frankly, I find him scary, not Osama.......he will not get in for a few reasons, one being that he's black, yes I know, but threaten the crackers with a black prez or Billiary and they'll have everyone including exhuming their great grandma to go and vote.

Sad to say, but it he reality in most parts of this country.

Please, Scarlett, tell me that is not the reason why you would vote for him. A book? What was written in a book? How do you know it was written by him? How do you know what is in it is not all hype to get the public's attention for just this purpose. Books are fictional. We don't know what he thinks, feels, believes, can do, can't do. He hasn't been tried and his feet are still wet.

Please rethink this.

Just to play Devil's Advocate here..
Aren't they ALL untried? Shoot, we had one that we'd tried and that didn't seem to get him not elected, or ensure that he did a good job.

Of course, I'm the gal who thought Ross Perot had a good idea the first time round too....
