Random questions..
Hi friends,
My wife and I are starting to get stressed regarding an upcoming overseas lond haul trip LAX to Sydney as we have a 14 month old! We are looking for some advice, please! 1. Looking to buy a tablet but I don’t have time as we leave on the 9th so I can't do it on eBay etc. I need a tablet I can easily copy few short movies and rhymes.....how does 7" Samsung sound? Am I able to download material off the internet and transfer it on the tablet OR I have to pay more to get it through google play? Any suggestions? I don’t want to spend a lot on the tablet...it’s really going to be a travel thing 2. Parents out there....anything you recommend we take with us...to entertain our little champ? It’s a 15 hour flight (a redeye so hope he gets some sleep!!) 3. General advice was to take plenty of fluid, bottles, little toys, pacifiers, blanket and also take Benadryl and Panadol 4. Our pediatrician is against trying any meds but our family members tell me ‘Phenergan’ is pretty good. I am really against any meds but if all goes south then I might think. However, in reading some material…….its very 50:50 Any help / suggestions welcome..thanks in advance. |
Re: Ramdon questions..
Take a map in case the pilot gets lost. ;)

Re: Ramdon questions..
You're in the Bay Area. Do a google search for recommended tablets. You'll be able to get it from Amazon in time or go to Fry's and pick a tablet up.

Yeah, no doctor will go on record recommending dosing the kid up on Benadryl. Oh the other hand many parents swear by it. Word of warning, some kids react to Benadryl differently and can get hyper so try it out in advance.

Re: Random questions..
Personally I wouldn't drug my kid for a plane journey.

Yes, which is our thought process..Its a 15 hour flight so thinking of things that can help us.
Make sure the kid is sucking on something going up and down that helps. Try and stick to your normal routine. Remember to pack a change of top for yourself as well as for the kid in carry on. I recall our first flight, I ended up with pee all over my top and I was glad to have a fresh one to change into. |

Oh, I see...There's lots of media I download and watch on my ipad but I use freeware to download from youtube and then convert for watching... I'll see if I can find a guide.. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2388467,00.asp http://www.amazon.com/forum/tablet?_...x2LD3RYHV8MIEM http://kidstabletwifi.com/how-to-add...r-kids-tablet/ Basically though you download from whatever tablet service you've bought in to. Or you convert DVD's you own, of which there are many guides on the web. |

Re: Random questions..
I always make a plane bag. A new bag they have never seen and fill it with new things. A new book, a new toy, colouring in, stickers, snacks they have never had before. A change of top for you as well as a change of clothes for the little one. A sweater for when it's cold. Ask for a family row with a child seat placement if they have. BA gave us a car seat thing that attached to the wall. Never bother with a tablet. Just let them watch the tv. Youngest didn't even have headphones, just liked the moving pictures. I took PJs and her sleeping bag. Then was it was bedtime she got changed into those to make it seem like a normal night.
Honestly it's going to be fine. Planes are noisy, move all the time and have vibrations, perfect conditions for them to fall asleep. Plus the staff make a real fuss of mine and are constantly bringing them stuff. |
