Exclamation Puppy Mills- Sad...

A local animal shelter is joining the effort to find hundred of dogs new homes. More than 1,000 dogs were seized this week for an alleged puppy mill in southwest Virginia. The dogs were not in good shape, but volunteers at the Durham County animal shelter are getting ready for adoption.

I know there's 30 up for adoption at Durham APS. My manager has already put in an offer to adopt up to two.

Here's the page from Durham APS-

I just can't imagine how anyone, including a breeder, could possibly cope with 1000 animals.

I read in my in-laws local paper that there are more in Pennsylvania than any other state. There was one up by my in-laws, a friend of thiers who worked there said it was disgusting and that the puppies had no water or proper ventilation, just sat yapping in their own faeces. It burned down recently and a lot of dogs died. I think the amish run a lot of them, its pretty sick and disgusting.

It's just disgusting. :curse: There are so many rescue dogs that need a home it's difficult to understand why someone would pay a "breeder" like this for a dog. Suzy cost me not one red cent and is priceless (although she's cost over $10,000 since - but worth every penny!)

On a related note. If anyone in the Cleveland area wants a cat, the Mrs (and sometimes me in a round about way) volunteers at a cat rescue shelter. They are always looking for homes (and donations of stuff). They and are no kill and will take any so they have quite a few ranging from kitten to adult. Lots of horror stories but they are all very loving and looking for a home.

I heard on the local news a while back that something like of the 400 or so dog breeders in VA only 16 were registered, so its easily open to abuse
All our Four dogs are rescues and live in the house, it sure is fun getting them off my bed and into there own every night, we have a Sleep number bed and of course they all have there own number!

I am a big animal lover so to hear this kinda stuff makes me so bloody angry. People are making a fortune out of these puppy farms, its horrible that the poor animals have to live in their own S***!!. :curse:

Id love another dog but I have 2 already.
