I must be getting old I have no idea what Rosh Tov or 8ft 2x4 are

If it wssnt so expensive in MA then AVFC 1 would be the choice
As it is I use a license plate holder instead

Having personalised car number reg plates such as those in America (what knid of system do they use there? It looks crazily random with no logical sequence to it in my opinion ) is much more difficult here in the UK, but I did know of a police sergeant who had RUN1N plates on his car - it is obviously very old as the whole system of vehicle reg nos has now change completely in the UK. It goes without saying that all Scottish plates begin with the letter S - eg SC11DGN - the figures revealing that the reg number plate was issued on or after 01 March 2011, and on 01 September 2011 the 11 will be replaced by 61...and so on as the years go on. The SC bit defines the area of Scotland in which it was issued, and the last hree letters are purely random.

I apologise to any motorist in Scotland who may have actually been issued with this number! I just thought it up in my head but the system of lettering and numbering and the registration prodecure is factual.

Pretty much, it just is random.

If you want a vanity plate, you check to see if it is available, state that it's not rude, pay your money and someone in a jumpsuit stamps it in prison and you get it a couple weeks later.

Depending on the state, some allow special characters, others not, and different states allow a different number of characters.

What is a little weird though, you can opt for a none standard plate which costs extra, such as a charity plate, local sports team, state animal, whatever and you get a clean slate of letters for each one, so if you wanted something in particular and it was taken on the regular plate, you could get it done on the sports plate if available etc.

The California personalized plate application asks for the meaning of requested plates.

I suppose for "ROSH TOV" the described it as "Hebrew phrase for very smart." Which happens to be true. That said, the exact translation is "good head."

For 8FT2X4 -- the description would be "a piece of lumber." An 8 foot 2"x4" is a standard piece used for framing walls -- commonly called a stud. BTW, that one was on a pick-up truck driven by a man whom my gay friends would call "eye candy."

Like I say, I was surprised that "good head" and "stud" would get through. In the early 70's the DMV recalled all plates with "JAP" in them. It was in the news that Herbert Jappay was quite annoyed when his plate was recalled as offensive. I wonder if he eventually got to keep it.

That one, I thought was going along the line as thick as a plank insult rather than stud
