Why? Are we in a police state? It's that kind of thinking that puts a country in one.

Just as holding a piece of paper from a university is not going to dictate how you perform in the "real world".
Surely if the tests were that easy then the university educated fellows should have walked the test? This does not appear to have been the case?

Horace...although you are one of the self proclaimed "best and brightest" a little courtesy and consideration does go a long way.

With all due respect.

Even when they have no clue? Wow, it's like the old days where police officers were respected within society.

To which might be added:
Educate oneself about the true meaning of "educated" before tossing the term "uneducated" about.

Now, this has to stop. Rule #n can't exist - 'n' is a variable so the rule number would be constantly changing

I have a lot of time for this train of thought, please don't get me wrong. I just happen to also think the minimum educational attainment standard to join the UK police service is woefully low.

I was hedging on whether someone else would come up with a Rule #2 before I posted.

But not everybody is suited to the univeristy way of education and lifestyle, this does not mean they can't become excellent police officers! I know several that this applies to, their beats/areas are far better off with them being in the profession they are in.

Its a very big brush your stroking with.

We'll be getting into negative numbers soon if this keeps up

Anyway, it's possible to have a series of concurrent rules #1, provided they all apply to different things which, in this case, they seem to. Plus, they're all silly rules anyway.

Constantly telling people how rich and educated you are usually means you're neither.

I certainly don't consider myself to be rich, far from it. Would need to be a millionaire to reach that title. Educated, yes, I consider myself that though.

I'm considerably more moderately well-read and mildly non-impoverished than the average bod, myself
