Today there was an advert in the paper from Sportsmans Warehouse which included a Ruger 38 Special at a great price. Mrs L has been wanting a pistol for sometime as she has a touch of arthritis in her hand and cannot grip the slide on an automatic.

So she went to the local store and purchased one. They wanted $50 for a box of ammo which she considered to expensive, so she didn't buy any. Pistol and no ammo FFS.

I would expect she will buy the ammo somewhere else for less.
That is female logic, you shop around, getting the gun cheap doesn't mean overspending on the ammo. The ammo is probably marked up cause the know men will buy it when they get the gun, no delayed gratification there.

I keep the automatics without a round in the chamber, I can pull the slide as I take them out of the safe, she can't.

Well that was her logic too and it would be OK if ammo wasn't in short supply and the only place locally that has .38 ammo is guess where.

There is a shortage of ammo right now, and has been for some time. The total stock of .38 ammo the store had was two boxes now they don't have that, and the other local stores are sold out.
