Boeing conducted a test flight today, will do further test flights before submitting software for approval. CEO of Boeing took a ride on the test flight.

This appears to be the test flight, only flight matching the article.

Hawaiian Airlines takes off for Boston today. Apparently the longest US domestic flight.

Leaves Honolulu @ 1355 and arrives next day in Boston 0550 total flight time 9h55m

The return leaves Boston 0810 and arrives Honolulu at 1335 total flight time of 11h25m

Flights operate 5 times per week.

Won't be until 2021, but Jetblue announced they intend to serve London from both JFK and Boston using A321LR aircraft.

That's good news, but we also need more competition further south; the cost of CLT-LON economy flights is stupid, often $500 or more higher than out of IAD or JFK.

When we flew in 2017 we saved $00's (net) by renting a car and driving to DC, staying in a hotel for one night, then taking a stopping flight to London .... via CLT. Of course on the way back we headed for the exit after clearing customs and took an Uber home.

Mrs Q and I have just saved $600 flying from United from Wilkes Barre to ORD to ABQ - 2 hours east of where we live, and further then from ORD, rather than flying from the airport 100 feet from the office, going ORD-ABQ.
I wish I could beat up the idiots who programmed this sort of thing.

But the pricing algorithm for airline tickets is economics supply-and-demand pricing in its purest form.

Charlotte is still a true fortress hub, American has something like 90% of the market share so yeah I can see why fares tend to stay high there for local passengers, but most passenger traffic is connecting and not originating at CLT so most passengers are paying whatever fare was most competitive from their originating airport.

Not sure if it still is but for a while CLT was AA's most profitable hub.

It's often cheaper from Vancouver Airport to go to Asia then a domestic flight to Toronto or other points within Canada on a domestic flight.

I've hopped the pond on a single aisle jet in cattle class before (BRS-EWR, Continental 757) and it's not something I care to repeat!

Back in 2005 I was in London on business and my wife looked at joining me for a few days. An economy ticket was just over $1,000 for CLT - LGW, and she also considered spending time with her parents instead, flying CLT - PGV for which USAirways wanted $800. .... PGV is Greenville, NC, so it was an in state flight! So I can see why CLT would be American's most profitable hub.

Jetblue will offer Mint premium cabin on the London flights, its a pretty nice cabin with lie flat seats even.
