I got the wife into ACI - which has come in handy with the SFO crash and this one. She can now carry a conversation on air accidents

Is it shown over here? I've never actually seen it in the listings. Seemed to be on almost daily back home.

I have them all on a hard drive - I 'aquired' them last year

There are a few episodes on Netflix and sometime on Discovery - its call 'Air Disasters' here.

It is but now seems mainly to be about old crashes. I guess the good thing about the safety of modern airliners and nav systems is bad for TV show producers, as it reduces the incidents they can make programs about.

Fortunately.

Another of my ex's favorites, Seconds From Disaster . Actually most of the air accidents there resulted in survivors. I used or tell her that even if your plane crashes, the chances of you being killed are remote. I remember sitting in a bar at LAX waiting for our flight home whilst we watched the live coverage of the JetBlue with the damaged nosegear circle overhead before attempting its landing. I had to virtually drag her onto the plane after that

Unless you crash at SFO, in which case the emergency crews may drive over you.

Until Asiana 214 I heard there hadn't been a fatality in the US on a commercial jet in over ten years.

If you're dead it was a crash. If you survive it was a landing. Any landing you walk away from is a good one.

That's 4 out of how many
Take the 777 crash at LHR for example. No fatalities and worst injury, one guy suffered a broken leg.

Jet yes, but Colgan Air 3407 crashed in 2009 with the loss of 49 lives (Q400 turboprop) - hardly insignificant.

Also Comair 5191 in 2006 was a jet - the first officer survived, 40-odd others didn't.

And after a great one, you can use the aircraft again.
