We still get them here...straight into the recycling.
An absolute total waste of time, money and resources.... They were useful in their day, of course, but there's no point in them now, unless there's ever a shortage of bog roll. In which case, why didn't we just make more bog roll instead of phone books? |

Same here, and we never even asked for one either.
It goes from the end of the drive into the recycling bin and that's that. |

I've tried calling to ask to be taken off, but it's like the local rag - they just don't care - they have to distribute so many to prove a given circulation, so its coming, want it or not..

Yup - doesn't even get taken out of hte plastic bag before it hits the recyling bin....I did wonder whether that f&*(s with the recycling process, but given that all of the recycling gets mangled together in the back of the truck, I'm guessing most of it just gets burnt anyway....
There was one time I was cutting the grass and I forgot there was one at the end of the drive I hadn't moved. Christ, that made a mess ... |

I don't know if it screws things up for them too much. I'd say it's probably a lot more preferable to old tin cans with some beans still in them or something along those lines, though..
Plastic bags gum up Phoenix recycling |

Depends if they are set up for plastic bags. I know Phoenix isn't, it cost them $1m a year to fix.
Plastic bags gum up Phoenix recycling Usually I don't put plastic bags in ours anyway, those are reserved for use as small bin liners or holding empty pop cans usually, so they'll either end up in the regular trash filled with used q-tips and various other items of non-bodily bathroom waste, or they'll get thrown out in the regular trash after I crush the cans to take them to the scrappers once I have enough. Our normal recycling gets put in 'dry' so to speak. |

When you go through the drive thru, get your meal, drive all the way home and realise they missed an item off your order.

Not sure if this should be in this thread or "What pissed me off" cos it is very borderline.....
Tipping. I don't mind it, honest I don't, but don't take the pi$$. Starbucks app keeps reminding you that even after you've left the store you can still add a tip for the next 2 hours.... And Jersey Mikes (think Subway in a different shirt) when you pay by card, it pops up an option for 15% 18% or 20%. Cashier tells you to hit a button to continue. For a line-up, collect and go sandwich??? F*(). Right. Off!! I think I answered my own question - this should have been in WPYOT:lol: |

I never have a problem tipping servers when I'm out for dinner; providing service is good I'll often tip quite well. I don't like the system but obviously there's no point in taking that out on the staff who have no control over it. Once it gets beyond that though, I start having problems. Tipping the bartenders every time I order a drink is starting to take the piss though since I don't know how they fall into the pay scale, I do it grudgingly since I'm ordering drinks so rarely it makes no difference. However, if I'm picking up food at a takeaway place, there's no bloody way I'm filling anything in on the tip line. Those people make at least minimum wage and I'm not giving extra money to someone for giving me my order and taking payment, that's ridiculous. I pick my own food up to avoid having to give a tip to the driver anyway  |

The point of tipping is it is discretionary. When you're presented with a screen with an option to tip at three [ridiculous] levels (warranted or not)... they've gone too far. |

I suspect that many businesses are on some sort of recurring subscription plan and there are still enough old f@rts in my neck of the woods to make yellow pages a cost effective business promotion tool. |

Come to think of it, you'd think the advertisers would realize the 'readership' figures are bogus .... |

When the new loaf of bread doesn't quite toast properly on the setting on the toaster oven, so you've got to change it slightly and suddenly you've nuked the whole thing :/
