You just said what I was thinking.

Yeah, maybe I did do it - but you don't know what it was that I did!! :sneaky:

And do you mean to say that only big girls complain??? :p

I can hazard a pretty good guess, or alternatively, I could ask your Lion.

I'm in Florida, there's not too many "little" girls down here. ;)

could it be that the lack of a central overhead light is related to apartment blocks, where they avoid having cable runs above the ceiling? Because if all you have is outlets, then all the electrics can be under the floor..

In an apartment, isn't a floor usually someone else's ceiling?

Yes as others have pointed out my argument is a total farrago & I unreservedly withdraw it.

As an act of atonement, half an hour of self flagellation using 10 strands of rusty barbed wire, followed by wearing sackcloth and ashes, may help to ease your conscience for what you did. Just a suggestion.

You really should become a concierge for the USA forums. Advice like that is hard to come by in this day and age ...

We'll all look forward to it. Having to read that message earlier was a bloody inconvenience.

Apparently it is. ;)

Our car.

Big pile of wanky, shitting, crap. Saab, FOAD.

The alternator must be going...because that battery is only 2 years old and it's knobbed out big time once a couple days ago and needed a jump this morning and almost failed to start a few hours later.

It's an Interstate battery too, I thought those weren't supposed to be shit...but apparently it's one size too small for our car, still cost $115 but apparently we need a $150 battery.....WTF?

Car batteries are taking the piss in this country....my old Mazda made do with what I thought was a pricey 30squid battery back in the day

It's like tyres. I remember my front two needed replacing a while back, and Pep Boys had a sale on tyres that was really cheap. Well, turns out my car doesn't take whatever tyres happened to be on sale and the absolute cheapest option they had was something like $265.00 for the two

I believe they were actually the cheapest option compared to other places, and as it was I was already a few mm away from a ticket so I had to take it.

Bastards.

People complaining about things being different or more expensive here, than when they were in the UK.

Erm, newsflash, people - you're not in the UK anymore. Live with it.

Actually, it makes some sense if all the wiring/piping is put in the walls. Now that I think about it, I've stayed in places that seemed to do that, probably easier to access and repair.

Easier to access cables in a wall rather than in an attic space? Tell that to the electrician when he has to run a new cable.

How many attics do tall blocks of apartments have?
