He had a rare and treatable type of pancreatic cancer which can normally be cured with surgery. Patrick Swayze obviously does not have this option...he has the more common aggressive type of cancer

I really liked him in Next of Kin, which surprisingly or not on reflection Liam Neeson played his brother.
