I couldn't be bothered looking for that recent thread but here are two data points and reminders of why I left New York.

I saw a one car spot, without cover going for 150K pounds in London the other day 
Anyway, http://boston.bestparking.com/index.php that's for Boston, but I think they cover other cities, quite a good site for scoping out the parking situation in some major cities
