Parents...odd question.

When did you have 'the talk' with your kids?
I was just reading another forum about someones niece who got preggers at 12 and wanted advice/reading material on informing her son who I assume is around the same age.
When I was a kid, my mothers stance was if they are old enough to ask they are old enough to know, that is the way I intend on being with my girls too. My 4 year old is already asking questions! The more indepth she asks the more indepth I will answer. I remember in England getting my first school talk in my first year at Comprehensive. Is that common in the US too or do they leave it up to the parents?

I haven't mentioned anything to my kids yet, they are 10 (son) and 8 (daughter) I'm just kind of hoping they figure it out sometime after they get married.

They wanted to know why the rooster was always jumping up on the hen's backs and biting the back of their neck/head. I just said that he was showing the hens who was the boss, a dominance thing.

you got off lucky then... my 4 year old wanted to know where she came from and how she got there!

I'm not a parent, but I was a kid.
My parents got this book when I was about 7 (?).
Where Did I Come From?
Aaaaand, I've just about pissed myself looking at who is the author!!! I never knew.
This book is clever, and age-appropriate. It explains that an orgasm is a lot like a sneeze.

I dunno though, I love it when you can feel a good sneeze coming on and know that you have no control over it.

I'm not a parent but as soon as my body did that thang my mom got a book on it. I think you should have that discussion before the plumbing becomes fully functional. The book that I read that was helpful was My Body, Myself. It really helped me turn into the nympho I am now.

I think a few kids in the waiting room got an education at the vets office the other day, when the standard phone call came to the front desk:
"Why are my dogs stuck together?"

I could use a good 'sneeze' right about now. Perhaps several at once.

When she starts that stuff I'm going to tell her something must be broken and leave it at that.
