Re: Ozzidoc....
Do you know anyone nearby with a really young baby? Try to get hold of one and spend as much time as possible with it...cuddling it, changing it etc.
I surreptitiously had a friend's 6 week-old baby for most of a day when we were all at a BBQ together. Scientifically speaking, the "dates" of my visit were not at all conducive to conception.....the rest is history

Oooo I haven't heard that one.
There is a range of children's books called Milly-Molly-Mandy. The girl in that book (from the 50s?) was named Millicent Margaret? Amanda.
We wanted something a little different but still traditional.
It's English meaning is industrious, it's Greek meaning is Melissa (and some books say my name is Scots for Melissa), it's old French meaning is brave strength etc. More info at http://www.babynamespedia.com/meaning/Millicent if you can be bothered
We didn't want something that translated as "daughter of God" or "Light of our lives" etc.

A bottle of perfume that Willy sent
Was highly displeasing to Millicent.
Her thanks were so cold
That they quarreled, I'm told,
Through that silly scent Willy sent Millicent.
I vaguely remember Milly Molly Mandy.
Lovely name, anyway

My name is Melissa - so I thoroughly applaud your choice

My great aunt's name was Amelia and she was named for her grandmother. Aunt Amy used to send my Dad a $5 bill for his birthday every year, right up until she died, . Note he was in his 50s when she died.
