OT/ tax returns
I just checked on the IRS web site about tax returns. It says that you have to pay $39 for each year that your requesting. So my question is ..... is their anyway around having to pay the $39 X 3 ?
It says that you can get transcripts for free. But when applying for a visa do we have to have the certified copies?
Thank you for you help,
Shirley

Well I paid the $23.00 for a copy last year of our 2002 tax return (since
jacked it up to $39.00) and checked the box that I wanted certified copies.
What I received were photocopies of the 1040 and W-2. The only difference
from photocopies I could have made was that each sheet had "Copy Do Not
Process" stamped in red and the 1040 had a control number in the top right
hand corner.
Did I get certified copies? I have no idea. I requested the transcripts
for 2003. I would say only pay the $39.00 if you have $39.00 to blow and
want to be extra certain your tax forms will accepted.

Thanks everyone for you quick replies to my question. Hope you had a Happy Easter!
