You may want to check with your nearest Mexican consulate. There may be
special rules for green card holders. But I'd think he'd need to bring his
passport. And may even need a visa.

Actually, one can enter Canada based on permanent residence in the US.
Check out this site and scroll down the page to Visitor Visa Exemptions.

We did this, but my husband's from Switzerland, so he wouldn't have needed a
visa anyway.

sounds like fun. I have heard Rocky Point is a good time.. I am sure it will all work out.. I am sure you know this but I think you need extra insurance on your car to travel in Mexico..

We'll see. It sounded like fun, but I'm not sure now. I feel safer traveling in the USA for now...but he's mentioned Mexico a few times, so thought I'd look into it.

No problems in Mexico, but I guess like anywhere you have to use your nouse.

Yes, that's the site I spent the most time looking at. I agree that the touristy border sites are not the best for seeing real Mexico, but it's all we can manage on short time.
