We were in Hawaii about 18 months ago and saw a wedding there, which was pretty impressive also. Seems a lot of Americans hit Hawaii for weddings, and you dont have to worry about AP.
We're getting married right here in Phoenix, having the JP come to my favorite fancy Persian restaurant so we can do the vows and have dinner afterwards for about 30 guests. But I was thinking of Tahoe for a long weekend honeymoon :-) Although, now that I think about it, Tahoe will still be pretty cold and snowy if the wedding is in February...I'm sure my honey will want someplace a lot warmer! Hmmmm....cozying up by the fireplace has its advantages, too!! :-)

Tahoe is the perfect place for me in february.
I get to wed my better half, lose a few bucks in the casinos and then go snowboarding, what a perfect honeymoon

Actually, we rented a cabin up in tahoe last winter for a long weekend, complete with hot-tub in the back yard and open fire in the living room. The rates were really reasonable. Obviously I'm a big fan of Tahoe.

Hi Charlie

I'm also a very big fan of Tahoe...been there in both summer and winter, boating and skiing, and both were fabulous! If you have any information on cabins that you recommend, could you share it with me please? Maybe we'll see you there on our honeymoon! LOL

Thanks, Rene

This is somewhat related...how many people had only one wedding? My fiance and I are planning to have two...a very small wedding, probably just the two of us and a JP (plus any required witnesses) and then a larger wedding hopefully this summer with friends and family. We thought that for immigration purposes it would be better to just elope for the first wedding so that feelings weren't hurt because his family wouldn't be able to come over twice in such a short period of time. Plus since neither of us have been married before we wanted to have a large (relatively speaking) wedding complete with a gown and tux. I'm just curious how many other couples go the two ceremony route and how many just do it all at once? We still don't know when or where for either ceremony...we're taking things one step at a time...come on NOA2!

Hi MarDae,

Chris and I are planning the same thing. We were married at our local city hall with a JP with most of my siblings, one couldn 't make it cause he was out of town. Chris' family wasn't able to come because we ended up getting married sooner than expected because we didn't have the time and money to do something bigger or plan it better. So, we decided we would get married again, this time through the Catholic Church one year to the date of our civil ceremony. Valentine's day next year. At first, we were planning to have it here in the US. But since most of my siblings had already witnessed our civil wedding, it was only fair that his family get to witness our church wedding. So, we are having the wedding in his hometown in England and some of my siblings are flying over for the occasion. It will be a small wedding as well, with just about 50 people. We're still in the planning stages, but are getting rather nervous cause it is quickly approaching.

Anyway, I think a few people on this NG have done something similar to what we are doing.

Let us know how your plans are coming along as well and good luck with everything

Take care,

Kat and Chris

We are also having two weddings.

The first will be the civil ceremony probably in city hall just by ourselves...
We first tossed around the idea of having our siblings be our witnesses, but although i only have 1 sister, he has 1 brother, 3 step-siblings and 3 half-siblings... then our parents would be left out and the both of us have two sets of divorced parents who are married to new spouses by now, so just immediate relatives plus their significant others would mean a party of about 26 people who'd feel left out and with a right to be there as much as the next person. That's without grandparents or aunts and uncles, cousins, etc... kinda big for spur of the moment.

So first, just us in city hall.

Then maybe we can save up enough money to have another wedding next year, maybe at a beach or somewhere nice, a fun party for both our huge families....

My fiance and I were considering the Vegas Wedding but the hotels are very expensive this time of year for a weekend and with the cost of the AOS (255, 110, 120) We decided to do a civil ceremony at city hall on Halloween. I figure Halloween means he will never ever forget our wedding anniversary. We also decided that we would do a second ceremony 1 year from our Anniversary, in Jamaica, on the beach. So Halloween next year we will be Mr. & Mrs Epitomee2000 x2.
