Just wanting to pick some brains...
Any Brits out there who have gone through the birth registration and passport process with the Embassy in Washington. I have a few Qs. Tx.

We haven't bothered to do this for Caroline because the passports are so expensive!
When she wants to bum around Europe for a couple of years she can pay for her own
British passport!

I am planning on doing the birth certificate bit, but wasn't going to bother with a passport that might get used just once in the five years.
