Re: The Oscars 2010 tonight!
Did anyone hear the 'catty' comment made by Vanessa Williams about Sandra Bullock's Oscar? Apparently she was on the View, she made a comment about the movie, something about it being 'another movie about whites saving black people'
I can't do the linky thing, but I'm sure there is a you tube link out there somewhere.

That pretty much describes any Hollywood film that is based in actual events.

I really don't think that Vanessa Williams did any favors turning it into a black/white issue (JMHO)

We need more films like 'Blade' with positive black role models

The movie was a true story?
Then by all means, let's forget such a heinous act ever happened.

Exactly. That's the solution right there.

That's the one! I thought Barbara Walters made a good point (don't usually like her) but, isn't it about time that we can all see that the twoeys (sp?) took this kid in because he was homeless and not because they thought they were 'doing a service to the black community'? and looking for the fast lane into heaven or whatever

There's something really irritating about the whole thing. I think it's great that these people helped him. His mother was a crack addict and he was living on the street. The people who watch this movie don't seem to realize that in order to succeed in life most of us require warm houses and safe environments for our entire childhoods, not just a couple of years in high school. The fact that he was able to flourish with such little nurturing is a testimony to him. Also, there's the whole football element ... don't even get me started about what people are willing to do to have a winning team in the South.
