Off to Blighty!
hmm now do I bring winter clothes or summer clothes?? Blighty here I come!!!
Oh fish n chips; roast beef and yorkshires, Deb's dads stew, Walkers crisps, a proper cup of tea, Warburtons thick white, bakewell tart and custard....and of course seeing those I havent seen for 3 months
and if I dont get told to " have a nice day and take care out there" in shops there will be big trouble.!!

Re: Off to Blighty!
So currently it's all a wee bit unpredictable in true British style.....21 June - this is the longest day of the year in terms of daylight so from now on it's all "downhill" but the summer solstice has no effect on the actual summer weather as you know - in the UK what we call "heatwaves" are more likely to occur in August and some Augusts have been very dry but not all that often - August can also be quite wet, especially in western and north western areas of the UK.
Wimbledon started yesterday in dodgy weather conditions - this morning in SW19 it has been sunny at times then suddenly it was cloudy and overcast again for ten minutes or so then out comes the sun again......there is about a 20% of showers at the All England Club in Wimbledon later this afternoon.
One of the "joys" about the British climate is its guaranteed unpredictability and fickleness. I don't think I'd like it too much if I lived in a place where the weather is exactly the same each and every day for weeks or even months on end. How boring is that?

Re: Off to Blighty!
thank you all and thank you Lothianlad for the weather update! Im going with an empty suitcase so i can fill it up on the way back!
I've only been in US 3 months so it is really early to be going back to UK but my mum is 84 and not in great health (but ok if you know what i mean) and this is the longest ever that Ive not seen her so just need to go back.
The airfares this time of year and at such short notice (my AP came last minute) are incredibly expensive but I managed to get one which wasnt too hideous from San Fran to Manchester with Delta (with a stop over and plane change in JFK)
Its actually hard leaving USA and new hubby ---seems for the last 3 years ive been saying goodbye to people on each side of the atlantic...
Wish I lived on the east coast - it would make my ping pong life so much easier - and cheaper!!!!
