Default Is now the time to invest???

Considering making a house purchase as an investment considering how weak the dollar is to the pound. Probably the usual Disney Villa type thing in Orlando/Kissemee to hopefully pay for itself through rentals.

Your thoughts please?

Are you talking big chunk or monthly investment. Big chunk, wait. Monthly, start now and get the averaging if it goes down further.

if you want it as a second home and can use it a lot yourself and can afford to not rent...then fine...I think along route 27 is a long term good buy...but renting is a mugs game...

Thanks for your responses.

Yes I can manage void periods although I'd obviously prefer not to have to.

I'd probably use a 60% mortgage to finance.

The property would be used as a long term investment, say 10 years, a holiday home (up to 2 months a year for me) and as a rental with the acceptance that if anything, any money accumulated would pay for costs etc.

I live in the UK but will be moving to Portugal within the next 12 months.

Thanks for the Route 27 tip. Any specifics?
