Even if the republicans seize control of the senate and win the presidency in 2016, there will still likely be gridlock since there will be payback. It's highly unlikely that the republicans will get 60 seats in the senate by 2016 and the democrats can just filibuster everything like the republicans did. The republicans could change senate rules to a simple majority to pass bills (requires only a simple majority to change rules) but once that is done, it'll never change back and when the democrats get control of both chambers and the presidency, everything the republicans passed will be undone by the democrats and the US will become much more like Europe.

Truman's 80th Congress (1947-1948) was called the "Do Nothing Congress" but 906 bills were passed during those two years. By comparison, the 112th Congress (2011-2012) has passed less than 200 bills and most were to honor someone or something such as hot dogs.

Your anti hotdog rhetoric is why you will never be elected!

I like that one. It was much better than the national outhouse day.

Instead of getting two more years of Benghazi from the house, we'll probably get two more years of Benghazi from the house and the senate.

NC has, at last, been called by CNN, giving the GOP control of the Senate.

It has been quite interesting living in a "battle ground state", and exciting to see all the opinion polls being proved wrong, and for NC to be the one that actually puts the GOP "over the top".

ETA. Iowa has just been called for the GOP candidate too.

Of course not, they'll be too busy trying to impeach him.

What seems to be the biggest surprise in these elections is that the pre-election polling was so far off. Many races were suppose to be neck and neck but senate races in Georgia, North Carolina, Iowa, Kansas, Illinois, and Wisconsin weren't very close. Another surprise was Virginia which shouldn't have been close but was neck and neck.

Also the Maryland governor's race should have been close but wasn't and Massachusetts shouldn't have been close but was neck and neck.
