I went to a boys school, we had some Girls in the 6th, think it was because they were doing particular subjects that the girls schools did not not do, science?

I went to an all boys school so did my brother in Bournemouth. We did woodwork and metalwork classes, the all girls school did cooking and cleaning, home science i think they called it.
