Default New I Player

Apparently open to all, non UK one funded by adds. Presumably still some stuff they will not allow.

They were talking about in on Radio 5 just now.

Sounds promising

Don't get too excited. The iPlayer is already in a load of countries as a paid for app. It isn't available in the US as the cable companies don't want to lose viewers from BBC Amercia. The companies all threatened to drop BBC America if an iPlayer was launched in the US, so I doubt we'll see this new version when it's released.

If the viewing numbers go down the people who do own BBC America will not buy programs, or just not pay as much, from the BBC. Wonder how much ad revenue on the iPlayer there would need to be to make up for that.

Dr Who, Star Trek and Graham Norton on rotation, last time I looked. I find better UK stuff on PBS.

I have a VPN so use iPlayer a lot (and ITV player) but both seem to have a limited selection these days and are slower to get programs online after they've been shown on TV.

I've never figured out what the 'Brit Connection' is with Star Trek (apart from Patrick Stewart!).

Very tentative if that's the reasoning. What's next? Reruns of House????
