Re: Netflix
John Carter
It was hard to make this into a film before the development of CGI, however unfortunately the CGI has been used in the boring modern way of just trying to impress with number of aliens and size of settings. The lead character needed more presence, personally I would have cast Willem Dafoe as John Carter instead of Tars Tarkas ;) Also he's supposed to have greatly superior physical strength due to the reduced gravity, however even the Princess's Dad looks more imposing than Carter. The soundtrack was cheesy too. Shame it didn't really work out as I would love to see "Chessmen of Mars' as a film. |

I was going to watch it on the plane to the UK but was too tired. Might give it a shot if its playing on the way back. I do like Taylor Kitsch and was interested to see him outside of Friday Night Lights.

Re: Netflix
I have been told by the kind people in the tele thread that this might be the place to make netflix suggestions ;)
Without going through 30 pages of other recs, after watching all episodes of Futurama I had to finally look at other selections and came across 'Steven Fry in America'. Fry? Fry :D Through 2 episodes, it's excellent. I hate the new menu setup though. Pete |
Re: Netflix
Did anyone else get an email about a lawsuit against Netflix? Not sure what I need to do, if anything....

Rene John Carter - turned it off 1/2 hr into it - terrible. Mirror Mirror - I actually liked this - plus there was nothing else on the telly and Julia plays entitled bitch so well ;) The Guard - didn't think I'd like it but it's bloody hilarious in parts. Lockout - ugh - sooo cheesy. |

Re: Netflix
I also got the email today. Basically you are opted in unless you want to opt out of it. I doubt it'll amount to much, maybe one month free?

Re: Netflix
I glanced through the email and then deleted it. I think the award is a charitable donation, so the best you're likely to get is that warm and fuzzy feeling that you helped someone!

And, I cancelled Netflix today completely. I realized I'm watching more movies for free (or less money) on cable TV. The near $10 I spent monthly on Netflix is going to go towards a monthly gym membership. That's a lot more healthy than sitting watching a movie (if I go to the gym...lol). Rene |

Re: Netflix
I've started watching an Australian program on Netflix called Mcleod's Daughters. It's about a group of women running a stock ranch in South Australia. I think it's great, in fact I'm addicted. If you like anything to do with animals, especially horses - I definitely recommend that you give this one a go.
