Default Netflicks

Do you have netflicks? My wife wants to sign us up but I am hesitant. We only only have one movie rental place in the closest town (not including the library which has a pretty good selection and is free!) and she is dissatisfied with the selection available there.

Yes and we have enjoyed it. We signed up for the 2 movies at once and it pays for itself after two shipments. No problems so far with it.

Go for it! I have it and absolutely love it. Pardon me while I start to sound like an advert. It's perfect since it's delivered directly to your mail box. I love the fact that on Netflix's site I can maintain a list of movies that I want to see. That way I don't have the problem of forgetting what I wanted to see in the first place when I go to the rental store. I always end up drawing a blank. Also one thing that I love is that I'm more daring now with my movie choices since you can rent as many as you can given that you are dutiful in sending the viewed ones back. I like that shipping is included both ways. Really cool. You know I don't feel bad renting a b-movie flick at the end of the day which is kinda nice. I'd say give it a go and cancel whenever you want.

One last thing. I have the rent 3 at a time plan for 18 and change and I've seen about 15 movies for 18 bucks. Can't beat that with a stick I tell ya. Screw Blockbuster and their so-called 'restocking' fee. Complete BS.

Yes, but I only get the 2 a month plan for $5 a month. It's not worth me getting any more because I would never get my money's worth especially now they have some stuff you can watch online (you get one hour of online viewing a month for every dollar you pay for your subscription) so with that it means I get to watch one film a week if I have time to.

I'd try it out for a couple of months and see what delivery is like.

I used them years ago when they first started, used to get 5 movies at a time, but they were shipping from CA and eventually I got fed up with the time it took and quit.

I was considering it a while back but read some bad things, including the alleged "con" surrounding their "rent as often as you like" claim. I'd heard that the more frequently you send movies back the longer it takes to get the next one - a kind of negative prioritization built into their system. Also read their customer service was poo - faulty disk got sent back for replacement and the same one came back again - twice.

Did I read this on here somewhere? Will try to look up the source.

Thanks for all the opinions!

We've got friends that love it, but they watch a lot of movies. We don't watch so many due to time, kids etc... They don't have any kids (well until sometime today, she's in labor as we speak!) So I'm not sure that we'll be able to take full advantage of the service. For us, I think it would be more of a selection issue, I don't watch many "new" movies, and you can't find the older stuff at the rental place. We got a free trial thing in the mail so I think we'll try that and see how it works out...

Can you not get county interlibrary loan for movies? I often get movies from the local library system, its really good. Put bunches on hold and wait for them to come in, that way always have something to watch (they have an amazing selection of Brit movies)

Happened to a friend a few times, well maybe not the same disc, but still borked on arrival....and a cousin who would get loads of movies, copy them to watch later as he was having surgury and was building up a back log of movies to watch whilst he had to rest in bed for a couple of months, they were taking longer and he got subscription cancelled because they thought he was copying movies (which he was I suppose, but besides the point when you're supposed to be able to get as many movies as you want)....and out in the boonies of maine the service is pretty poor, but i might be more tempted here now, but then we've got movies on demand so i'd stick with that, and find I don't watch nearly as much tele now i'm working, because I can't be arsed to sit in front of a screen, same goes for games, the irony
