Moving electronic goods to US

Re: Moving electronic goods to US
The cost equation also depends on whether you are shipping a container load of stuff over or just a few suitcases and boxes.
If you have a container AND your stuff is dual voltage you might as well stick it in. That is why we brought our PCs, TV, UK xBox 360 (bought a new power supply over here for that - the console is dual voltage, but the brick wasn't) and some other electrical items.
If you are doing a minimal move, it probably isn't worth the hassle.

Yes, employer pays for all(one container Plus some air freight as well). Have been getting advices that stepup may be harmful in long run.
Pulaski, what smoothing transformer do you use and where did you source it please? And rough price or any links please?

Can't see any real reason why it will be harmful. I'd over-rate for the device its driving, so if you have 100VA of load, get a 200VA transformer, cheap autotransfomers run hot. We have a couple of good quality ones from Farnell in the UK, which run our amps, and sit quiescent at around 40C

The current ATVR 2000 is a bit fancier than mine which I have had for 15 years. The top Google hit shows it selling for $110 with free shipping through UPS Ground (more if you want it in three days or less).

Amplifier specs says:
Channel 9.2
Rated Output Power (1kHz, 1ch driven) 230 W (4ohms, 0.9% THD [European Model])
Rated Output Power (20Hz-20kHz, 2ch driven) 150W (8ohms, 0.06% THD)
Maximum Effective Output Power (1kHz, 1ch driven) (JEITA) 230 W (8ohms, 10% THD)
Dynamic Power per Channel (8/6/4/2 ohms) 175 / 220 / 295 / 410 W
All 9 speakers are 6 ohm speakers.
Subwoofer: Input impedance(kohm)=25
max power output(RMS)=220
continuous IEC(RMS)=170
max power consumption=250

Check the TV, it might be universal input, but the cost of TVs has plummeted so much, we bought a 55" Samsung UHD for 600 bucks.
Is it an Xbox 360 or an Xbone power supplies are around $40 here, cheaper than an autotransformer.

Its probably only the amp you'll need to run on an auto, remember, the bigger the auto, the cooler it should run on load

Speakers
1) 150W(rms) X 2
2) 125(rms) X 2
3) 100(rms) X 2
4) 120 X 1
5) 220W X 1 (subwoofer)
Looks like a 2000W transformer will do, if price is not much then i think 3000 transformer would be safer bet?
TV is also 240V (150W rating) since the guys are shipping and have enough space shipping it.
Xbone power supply sounds good, will buy the brick there.

is the xbone regionalized? I know I had problems with some xbox games back in the day.

Re: Moving electronic goods to US
That's a big, and non-trivial transformer, a couple of hundred bucks at least, and it would pull a lot more than a normal plug-in US device will supply (20A) without special circuits.

Sorry, didn't get your second sentence Are you saying 2KW transformer is more than enough?

Re: Moving electronic goods to US
I'd WANT to spend more on my Auto - it buys you more iron and copper and less heating. One made by Signal Transformer (US made) or the like is a couple of hundred bucks.

Re: Moving electronic goods to US
I think my hifi runs on a 1kw transformer, and it is a "smoothing transformer", so cost a bit more but is supposed to reduce the noise in the US's notoriously dirty mains power.
