Default mince meat

Can anyone tell me if you've found mince meat for mince pies in a supermarket and if so which ones stock it. (I'm in florida) I have found American recipes that include it as an ingredient but can't find it in publix ?

Any suggestions?

I bought mince pies today from Cost Plus World Market. They also had jars of mince meat. I assume Cost Plus is a nationwide chain.

Cheers for that. I was searching within the trailer Park and got nothing relevant in the results. Sounds there's a world market in Orlando so I'll check that out. Plus it sounds like there may be actual mince pies which is a plus as home made ones are never as good.

Pretty much ever grocery store have it these days. Some have it in baking supplies, some with seasonal, others in ethnic aisles.

Ranges from really expensive to pretty expensive, but come Boxing Day it is dirt cheap and the stuff never goes off....

This year I used up 2 jars which said best before Dec 2010. It had an excellent flavour and the mince pies just keep on disappearing.

I dislike the shop bought ones as the pastry tastes and looks uncooked. Home made is the way to go..altho the day I make mince pies in our house is a day of much hilarity as even though they taste delicious, they look like Rob Ford sat on them and squished them around a bit - not a pretty sight.

Sue lives your way, pop over to her house - she makes some mean mince pies (and sausage rolls!)

My mother in law made both mince pies and Christmas pudding especially for me for Christmas. Both were disgusting LOL. Despite following Delia's recipe, having need eaten either before, she had no idea how they should look. A bit like when my wife made sausage rolls.
