"Happy Holidays" always makes me think of some stupendous summers in the south of France as a teenager. Not really the image I want in my head at Christmas though.

I use Happy Holidays. There are enough of them in December, and more every year so that no religious, ethnic, or other kind of group is potentially left out of the fun and joy the rest of us are experiencing.

The recipients can decide for themselves which holiday(s) they want to feel happy about.

To the people I know - Happy or Merry Christmas, cuz I mean it. At work, ur supposed to say Happy Holidays I just mutter happy whatever.

What I've never gotten used to: Happy St Paddy's Day & the worst - "Happy Valentines Day". I'm sorry, but that's just bloody creepy...

"Happy Christmas" from me, to me it is a completely secular holiday, a mish-mash of centuries of multi-culturalism. In fact a triumph of multi-culturalism.

"Merry Christmas" doesn't offend me as a non-religious person, so it shouldn't really offend someone of another faith. If I choose to wish someone a Merry Christmas, I do so because that's what I celebrate, not for any other reason.

We live in arse-paralysingly drear times when a message of well-wishing is considered 'offensive', don't we?
