Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays?

Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays?
I've been led to believe that it can be considered 'offensive' by the overly PC fraternity to say 'Merry Christmas' to other people nowadays (particularly if they are of a different 'faith' - although I am not of any faith or belief).
Personally, I couldn't care less if someone was offended by that, and if they made it clear to me they were I would simply state that my traditional seasonal greeting was unencumbered with any religious sentiment.
How do others feel?

Happy or Merry Christmas all the way as far as I am concerned. I try to avoid buying cards that say Happy Holidays. It's not the holidays...it's Christmas. I bought mine in Canada this year...but I usually buy them in the UK.

I don't insult ANYBODY - nobody does - people choose to feel insulted, or not - their choice. So if a PC wonk wants to get funny about it, fine, but I'm not changing my intent (to wish people well etc for the period) nor my words just because some PC wallah has a fit.
If I had the time I'd tell them they choose to be insulted etc, I didn't make them be insulted, they should lighten up a bit, let that be their contribution to World Peace at this time of year, before wishing them "Merry Christmas". I'm all for world peace, but I also can't help thinking "w@nkers"...

PC'ness = A thoroughly pathetic argument invented by Friday afternoon woollies who could not even be bothered to think their own argument through to its logical conclusion.
Try this - is it PC to try and impose PC views on those who do not support PCness?

Re: Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays?
How anyone can be offended by being wished a 'happy' something is beyond me. As it is, the term 'holidays' is rather a misnomer as Christmas is the only one that is designated as a federal holiday
"Merry Christmas" doesn't offend me as a non-religious person, so it shouldn't really offend someone of another faith. If I choose to wish someone a Merry Christmas, I do so because that's what I celebrate, not for any other reason.
We live in arse-paralysingly drear times when a message of well-wishing is considered 'offensive', don't we?

I say "Happy Hanukkah" when it's Hanukkah (tomorrow, by the way). I say "Happy Diwali" when it's Diwali. I say "Happy Solstice" on the Solstice. I say "Merry Christmas" when it's Christmas. If you aren't Jewish when I wish you a happy Hanukkah, or Hindu when I wish you a happy Diwali, or pagan when I wish you a happy Solstice, or Christian when I wish you a merry Christmas... well, you can take it that I'm using a short form of, "It happens to be _____ today, and I hope that you are well and happy."
I also don't get bent out of shape when people wish me to be happy, merry, or otherwise joyful on any day of the year, if they genuinely wish it, and aren't trying to play a private game of "bait the atheist."

Definitely Christmas; no I'm not religious. And I would not be offended if anybody said "Happy Hanukkah/Diwali" or whatever to me. It's a friendly greeting, so stop being so sodding rude by not liking it!

Re: Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays?
If someone wishes me a Happy Thanksgiving or 4th of July I am not offended even though I am not American.
I don't seriously expect them to get offended at Merry Christmas. I have wished many Italians a Merry or Happy Christmas in English, not even in their own language. They are not offended, they understand it and they all know I am English. They all know I can say Buon Natale in Italian as well.

For a nice quality card stock printed both sides with personalized envelopes, it was cheaper than buying nice cards in the store. The 'generic' ones to clients and acquaintances were good to post right away, we just needed to write a personal note inside the one of the people we really liked
