Default Major Help Please!

hello there...

i was born in the u.s, but hold a u.k passport which i recieved when i was 17 years old as my dad is a citizen of the u.k.

anyhow, the u.k passport is not expired but im going to england soon and would like to renew it there. i have my birth certifcate and my u.k expired passport and will travel using my u.s passport.

when renewing my u.k passport, will i need any of dad's passport information, becuase when on the below application for renewal in the u.s im confused about sections 2:

http://www.britainusa.com/consular/c1form04.pdf

on the u.k applications, does section 2 exist?

i am no longer in contact with my parents and will not be able to provide such info... is that acceptable?

If you are a UK passport holder, you should use your UK passport to enter the UK (and use your US passport to leave and re-enter the US).

How long are you visiting the UK? Unless you enjoy standing in line and waiting around, it is probably more efficient to apply for your UK passport in the US.

I don't understand the question above. Do you mean if you're applying from the UK? Look for the UK government website.

If you're required to provide information about your father's citizenship, then you have to do it. I expect applicants have to complete it even if their father is dead.

I just read your posts. In the first post, you said the UK passport had not expired and now you're saying it has. Make your mind up!

The answer to your question is online on the relevant UK passport website.

Personally, I don't know why you averse to renewing your passport in the US. It's a lot faster than doing it in the UK...

Have you ever been to the UK before and had experience with bureaucratic institutions such as the passport office?

You may need your father's UK passport number if nothing else. I was asked for my parent's info when I got mine renewed at 18 - could not provide it - it took months to get it sorted out. A solicitor eventually dealt with it for me. I unusually had my own passport at 13 years old, because I was not always living with my Dad. I know the rules changed and all kids now have their own, but if your passport is a few years out of date, they might be a bit stickier with the evidence requirement.

On the passport page for the UK Premium Fast service it says,

Conditions of these services
The guarantees for these services apply only if your application is straightforward and if you have completed the form properly and supplied all the necessary supporting documents. If you supply incomplete information or we cannot confirm your eligibility from the documents you have given us, we may not be able to issue a passport in the expected time.
http://www.passport.gov.uk/general_u...thin2weeks.asp

So, if your application gets complicated, it may not be feasible to get it in 1 day.

Secondly, if your UK passport has expired, that means you won't be using it to travel to the UK, and you won't be able to use it coming back to the US (as you'll need to use the US one) so you won't actually need a UK passport for this journey. So why go to all that trouble of standing around that grotty office all day, when you can do it by mail from here?

OK. What's stopping you from applying for a UK passport renewal in the country where you're living?

Also, it would seem that if you can't obtain the information about your father and his UK passport, you may not even be able to renew, even if you turn up at the Passport Office in the UK.

Maybe you had better see/consult a solicitor before you go to the UK Passport Office.

Perhaps you should try asking the people who know.
