Mackinac Island, Michigan.
Just enjoyed a few days of R&R with my Wife and Father-In-Law, visiting Mackinac Island, Michigan.
As the Chicago to Mackinac Yacht race, was finishing on Monday Morning, all the Island Hotels required a 3-Night minimum stay. So, I opted for the Beachfront Best Western Dockside, in Mackinaw City and took the Shepler's Ferry across for the day.
As no motorised vehicles are allowed on the Island, you can only get around by Bicycle, Horse & Carriage, or Shank's Pony.
Here's a few photos of the area.

Yes, the Beaches were excellent. The Hotel we stayed at had 300ft of Private Beach. here's some more photos, showing the Beachside of the Hotel, and the Clear Water, to be found in the area.

View of the Grand Hotel with is 660ft long porch which was used in the filming of Somewhere in Time with Christopher Reeve, Jayne Seymour and Christopher Plummer.
The hotel built in 1887 harks back to a more genteel age where folks dressed up for meals. It is open to non-residents for afternoon tea but only if you have the correct attire, collared shirt and sport coat for men and no jeans !!

Seem to recall lots of fudge shops - both on the Island and in Mackinaw City. Michigan is such a great state, especially in the Fall.
