Can't remember if it was a big hit back home though.

Partridge doesn't make me laugh much, but I love Gervais Extras and Office.
Keeping Up Appearances was pretty much a hit back in the 90's in the UK. I cannot stand "As Time Goes By" or "Waiting For God". They insist on putting those shows on TV here. Why, I do not know. I can sit through those shows and not even smile. And as my husband pointed out, they never wear any other colour apart from beige or grey. It suits those boring dull shows. I would love to see some good young British comedy on TV if they are going to show anything from Britain!

The Fast Show was genius if you'd seen previous episodes. It was the same punchline with minor variations over and over and I laughed so hard I thought I'd die.

But when my brother - big Monty Python and Young Ones fan - came back from 5 years in Hungary, he saw a random episode for the first time ever and was stony faced all the way through. Just didn't 'get it' because he hadn't seen it before.

"I'll get me coat."

"I was verry, verry drunk..."

"You ain't seen me, right?"

Little Britain is ok but the comedy that really makes me laugh is My Family.. Keeping up appearances isn't bad either..

Keeping Up Appearances was funny in the beginning, but then I married an Onslo, and his family make me feel like Hyacinth!

BBCAmerica showed the Fast Show here a few years back but it went under the name Brilliant. So the way they randomly repeat shows over and over it might surface again sometime

That's like Only Fools And Horses. If you have grown up with it, then it's funny because you know what the characters are like. But if you see one random episode having never seen it before, then it's not funny. My hubby watched one episode and didn't get any of it.

My other half liked Only Fools & Horses from the first time I showed it too her. Although I did start her off with a couple of good ones. Her favourite Britcom though, is probably The Royal Family.

The Royle Family is cool! I don't think many Americans would get that humour, seems like you have a wife with a good sense of humour!
