Re: Let's talk about cars
I can't remember ever triggering the ABS in any of our vehicles (not sure if the truck even has it), but then I don't use the brakes much. There is a reason why our Accord recently got a clean bill of service it's inspection, including the comment that the brake pads have plenty of life left in them 206,000 miles after they were last replaced.
Do you slow down using the gears? I can do that to an extent in mine because it has an M setting, but it's not always convenient in the snow and I'd never switch from D to M during the summer or fall. It's not real manual so it's no fun.
Oh lovely

Re: Let's talk about cars
I shat myself the first time I triggered the ABS years back, sounded like a jack hammer going off. It still amazes me that it doesn't seem to be pretty much standard on cars out here, or at least on cars 4 or 5 years old. Then again, when I was looking for my first car over here, with 10k in my pocket, some of the cars that were appearing in my search results still had drum brakes at the back!

I suppose, somewhat. I don't downshift aggressively, but I do changed down as the vehicle slows. The biggest thing I try to adhere to is to not have my foot on the gas when there is a red (brake/ traffic) light ahead of me. And I almost always (maybe 90% of the time) either I don't reach a stationary vehicle or red traffic light before it moves on/ changes, or I am doing less than 20 mph and in second gear before I need the brakes.

Btw - International Autosource are being great about their mistake with the order. Just going through options with them now, but really impressed with their honesty, openness and apparent genuine desire to get the best possible solution.
