But Australia has lots of small things that can, at best, maim you and at worst, kill you!! Nowhere on earth should have a jellyfish that you can't see (only 1 cm cube I think) and can cause fatal brain haemorrhages. I will pick a grey cold day in Rochester any day over that!

I fully agree with you, even Pennsylvania can have nasty things with 8 legs, but Australia really has too many things that could kill you.

We found a black widow or false widow (couldn't see from distance) in our crawl space the other day. I've got the extermination people coming in the next 2 weeks to kill them and any other deadly critter off down there!

This is true but in all honesty you have to be as stupid as Steve Urwin to get hurt or killed by any of the deadly things. I live surrounded by bush and I've never seen a deadly anything. Get the place sprayed yearly for anything with more than four levs so don't see them either. Snow in May? No thanks! Altbough snow season is starting to happen down South.

America has crazy weather. Sadly, the midwest and some of the southern states were hit with deadly tornados. In a moment of non Washington news, the media actually went to the midwest and talked to people whose homes were brutally destroyed.

Above freezing now but windy out there, should get some melt today, roads are clear but the rest looks like it will be a muddy mess for the next few days.

I do agree with you that in a lot of cases it's because people are stupid that they get hurt or killed by deadly insects etc. But that jellyfish is 1 cm cube, it's tiny and nearly invisible, so if you are swimming in the sea, the first time you know it's there. is probably when everything starts to hurt.

As an organic gardener and as someone who tries to attract wildlife into my garden, I can't go down the spraying route, but that's just the way I am.

I have no problems with the wildlife in the garden, love seeing it all out there and we don't hurt geckos, skinks etc. Only things with more than four legs that decide they'd like to visit indoors. I don't want them and they're not welcome.

I've actually never heard of that particular jellyfish but lifeguards are always on the lookout and if jellyfish are coming in people are warned. I'll have to google it.
