attend job fairs with generic resume
turn up at retailers, etc. to enquire about a job. Have resume ready to hand over if necessary.
ask people you know (neighbors, family friends, anyone) if they know of any jobs going.
The latter worked for me like a dream to get me the job I'm in now.

Have you ever thought about doing some kind of volunteer work maybe? This could widen your network of meeting people and a lot of jobs come along when "you know someone who knows someone"
Do you have a local hospital that has a volunteer group? They usually deal with family help for the patient, run a small gift store etc. If you could do this then you will get to know paid hospital workers which might help if there is ever a vacancy somewhere.
Just a suggestion

We already have a nurse in the family lol. My wife's daughter is a nurse, and just started working in Safety Harbor I think. She is a travel nurse, gets paid to travel the United States while working. She just finished a contract in Fort Myers and maybe after being local for 3 months will move on to another state for a while.
