That makes them capable of about 4mph - faster if you factor in rest stops...It gets more like that B movie all the time - better lock up the small pets, kids and wrinklies.....

Oh, I think I like them. Firstly they are called crazy raspberry ants and any animal that gets a crazy in its name has got to be good. Secondly they eat fire ants but don't seem to bite us.

Oh, and this is how the conversation went in our house last night.
Weeze, why is there a bucket in my parking space?
Because its trapping or killing the big scary thing. Or possibly just angering the big scary thing.
"Moves bucket". There's just a dead paper wasp under here.
Hmmmm, well either it looked scarier when it had friends, or the scary thing killed the paper wasp and escaped. I don't really remember. I was rushing.

I guess I can reduce my list of "Nasty Little Buggers That Can Really Mess You Up in Texas" by 1
And they may not bite, but they play havoc with electrics...which could be life threatening round here - imagine the spike in suicide rates if people lost their cable tv!! At least they're spreading east - west, so they'll get to you first I believe they're faster than the snails, (although they are partial to a Buc'ees now and then), so you probably won't get a chance to post a warning before being overwhelmed - so we'll just take an extended silence to mean they got you...

Reminds me of those enormous coconut crabs you get in hotter climates. I'm never leaving WI again.

Funny you should say that (Never leaving WI...) - I was just scanning a back issue of Hispanically Speaking News, as I am wont to do, and I came across this little gem...

And this is what it looked like before it met the shoe...

If I found a scary-as-all-hell spider in my bananas I think I'd pass out. That Brazilian f.cker would get clean away.

Oh good Lord. I really, really hate spiders. Spiders, centipedes, crabs... anything with unnecessarily long legs (that doesn't include supermodels, although they can be pretty terrifying too).

Those big ones probably think they're hard, so may not follow that logic.

It's also getting worse the older I get. By the time I'm 70 I'm going to have to live in a perspex box by myself.

At least they're running away from you. It's when they start running at you that you need to worry
