It's the best thing on TV right now, Episode 3 had my stomach and throat hurting from laughter.

Like it a lot.

But raises a question:

Inbetweeners or Skins? (Like, if you had to choose).

skins = shite.

Re: Inbetweeners

Skins got boring to me after the first series. Inbetweeners is doing the good British thing of ending after 2 or 3 excellent series, like with Extras and the Office, as opposed to money-spinning never ending network shows like Lost and Heroes.

Another parallel to the Office, they're making an American version of the Inbetweeners, I imagine that they'll carry the idea and style through and not the humour, it's got some pretty big names behind the production, no clue as to the actors though. I'm really looking forward to it.

Can't imagine NBC going for a supposed shot of a 16 year old girl tossing off a 17 year old lad at an under 18 disco........

We felt a bit funny about the first cast leaving, but after a few episodes we got right into the new cast and it was just as good, if not better, than the first lot.

Spoiler:
Plenty of hot lesbo action in the 3rd and 4th series!

Saw my first episode on a plane over to UK earlier this year. Totally embarrased myself by laffin my arse off

Love it... and it can't be redone in the US and be anywhere near as funny.

Re: Inbetweeners

There was another Brit show I watched on the plane and can't remember the name of it. It was based on the memoirs of some flamboyantly gay bloke from when he was a kid. The episode I saw was pretty funny. Anyone have a clue what I'm talking about?

MTV are going to attempt the American version of The Inbetweeners. I'm not getting my hopes up TBH.

How much of the 3rd did you watch. The gang in the 3rd and 4th got quite interesting, although I admit it took a while to get into them. 5th is filming right now according to their FB updates.

Re: Inbetweeners

Skins gets so serious, when they do drugs for example it's like Trainspotting all over again, I prefer what they did on the inbetweeners, if you do drugs you end up kissing a girl who just threw up all over you.

Strangely enough I can relate to things in the Inbetweeners, after all I was an 'inbetweener' ie not one of the cool kids, not one of the nerds, inbetween the two! No completely realistic show can be entertaining, so Skins took everything to the extreme and made it exciting and the Inbetweeners took normal life and spiced it up with jokes. It's funny because it all happens at school.

I only saw a few episodes before giving up...have them sitting around though, so might give it another shot if I get time.

I watched all of skins but it did get a bit stupid.......I've only seen the first 2 episodes of season 3 of inbetweeners so far but me and my wife have been getting a little bored with it. The episode about drugs was a bit stupid.

The best thing on UK tv right now is "An Idiot Abroad" with Karl Pilkington.

Funny you should say that - I watch the Inbetweeners and can't help thinking a lot of that was me when I was 16/17 :)

Mostly the trying to get served underage, and completely failing to pull

Love The Inbetweeners though, best thing on TV after Top Gear if you ask me.

Yeah, and BBC America are really inconsistent with their beeping as well. They allow 'shit' but not 'cock'. Can't quite make head nor tail of that one myself.

Honestly, since BBCA is most likely aimed at ex-pats they should be allowed to show programs uncensored after a certain time like back home, but with some kind of disclaimer or something. I think there's one of the film channels we have on cable that shows films with all the bad words in. IFC maybe - not too sure. Either way, plenty of warnings that there may be bad words and remove the beeps. That's my vote anyway :)

I don't think it is.

I think it's aimed at PBS type plebs whom think Hyacinth Bucket and Benny Hill is funny.

Wishful thinking, maybe?

When we first got cable, BBC showed more stuff like Blackadder, even Father Ted and Black Books. As soon as they started showing Cash in the bloody Attic that was that.

If it wasn't for Top Gear and The Inbetweeners I'd probably not watch it!

Oh aye, I forgot about that one. Usually it's on when I wake up on Sundays - not bad from what I've seen of it.

Uncensored version here:
http://www.fastpasstv.com/tv/the-inbetweeners/

A US version might work... It worked with The Office where the US version is far superior, purely by not having that no-trick hack Gervais in it.

I thought I was the only one that though that! I love the UK one, but I still get more laughs out of the US one.

However, I think a US Inbetweeners might go the way of their Red Dwarf, or Men Behaving Badly. The humour just doesn't cross over, IM(V)HO

Funny thing is, I can't usually stand Ricky Gervais either but for me the British version of The Office dumps on the US version from a very great height, if only because Gervais actually knew when to end it.

I cant see how the Inbetweeners would ever be translated over here in the US - they would bleep most of it out which would lose the point of it. I have been watching series 3 on 4od - it is hilarious - how they get away with it I dont know - I sit there cringing with every scene - brilliant
