Impromptu road trip
I have an itch. Tomorrow I am going to drive from Tampa FL to Savannah GA, just for the hell of it, and back next day.
What should I "Not Miss" on the way?

The Castillo de San Marcos in St Augustine is pretty cool - real history in a country where most "history" is less than 250 years old.

Re: Impromptu road trip
I've never taken an impromptu road trip since they require so much planning, but when I could fly free my impromptu trips were flying somewhere. Went to NY once just for breakfast, I decided to criss cross the US once several times in a 48 hour period through different city's to see what their airports were like...lol
Have fun on your trip!!

We either jump on the bike or in the truck and take off. Vague point of destination which often changes en route. We have discovered numerous interesting places that way that we had never been aware of. Often our final destination is nowhere near our vague point

Boo. Woke up with a screaming headache so stayed home. I'm never sick, but seems like a sinus infection that started yesterday.
Maybe next weekend.

I find if we plan too far ahead something always gets in the way, either work or health issues so I quite enjoy the Friday evening ideas of "lets go somewhere tomorrow."
Most of our impromptu trips are 2 or 3 nights out. It takes a day to get out of Texas!

Mrs P went to college in Texas. When she drove there, from Virginia, her goal on the first day of her journey was to reach Texas. On the second day she drove across the state to her college!*
* I think 1/3 of her journey was in Texas.

If we go on the bike from home it takes us over 12 hours to get to west Texas, around Fort Stockton area. That is far enough for one day on a Harley
