I purposely time my ride into work even though it means leaving about 40 minutes earlier than I need to. Getting behind a bus on the small county roads I drive on is total hell

If I didn't leave quite early enough I used to regularly follow one down a road near Pulaski Manor as it picked up children, but after it headed onto a quiet country road, I was able to pass it most days, just after a sweeping left bend, by watching for traffic down the right-side, then as the road straightened, duck to the left, and accelerate down the hill where I had half a mile ahead clear view.

Those were the days, I don't go that way now little Miss P is at school.

Yeah, if I get behind one and there is an alternate route I can take, I will take it. They are a pain, although of course we all understand they have to be safe, its still a pain.

School ends today for my granddaughter's school district in NY area. She is going to summer camp which is hosted by the city and school. 8:30 a.m. til 3:00 p.m. five days a week. Cost is $800 from July 5 through August 22.

The last week in August, I will fly up to New York and then fly down to Florida for her to spend a week with her Virginia cousins at my sister's house. We return just before Labor Day and then back to school that Wednesday after Labor Day. So her summer is filled to overflowing.

I do love the calmer roads on the morning and evening commutes, although the kids around here have already been off school for a few weeks now.

Today was the legally last day of school, if they had used up all of their snow days
