Default How do I view UK TV programs using an iPhone or iPad?

Had a brief look through the forum but can't find any links. I have an ipad2 and iPhone, and want to be able to watch UK programmes (sky player, itv player etc)
Does anyone have a reliable way of watching uk programmes/ using Uk websites on an ipad2. Thanks

You have two choices.

1. Pay a fee for a DNS redirect service, such as UnoDNS (http://www.unotelly.com/unodns/)

2. Pay for a UK based VPS and setup a proxy and / or a VPN (IPSEC is the standrd for site-to-site, thought OpenVPN is popular, but this operates in userspace and does not perform as well as IPSEC) to then route traffic through.

Given that you're having to ask this question, I would strongly direct you to option #1.

Good luck.

I would have said use a VPN on an ipad. I use tunnel bear. It's available in the App Store. Just download it, open it and install the profiles then just turn on the VPN from the VPN menu in the settings of your ipad making sure the UK profile is selected. I am however very interested in the UnoDNS option that Horace mentioned above. Gonna seriously look into this rather than the VPN which can sometimes be a little slow.

The DNS option works by intercepting your DNS requests to specific hostnames. You are then sent to a server located in the region for which you select you wish your traffic to appear from, which then sends you traffic through their server hosted in said country.

This means non technical users (and even technical ones, given how excellent such services are) can easily access geo blocked services with ease.

The DNS option is a bit more faff setting up, but it's a better option if you're chromecasting.

Both that and VPN cost about the same, especially as a lot of DNS services include VPN, for if you're on the road.

Firstly thanks for moving it Jerseygirl.
Secondly I'm not technologically Clued up. I can basically use the internet and send emails on my iPad / a computer. I will take a look at tunnel bear in the App Store. I don't really want to be spending much $ on it. As the main thing is being able to watch the cricket on sky go this summer.
Thanks for the replies and help. I will let you know how it goes

So I have downloaded tunnel bear and it's working fine (I tried ladbrokes) I went to go onto my sky go app, and it says I need to update the app in the App Store. However as my iPad is synced to the us App Store it wouldn't allow it. Do I have to keep going back to the UK account to update it?
Also I saw you can get unlimited access for 12 months for 19.99$? That sounds a very good deal, would you all recommend doing this? Sorry for the questions, as I said in the previous post I'm not great with technology and I have limited patience with it. Thanks again

ESPN has a fair bit of cricket. Not county mind, but still a decent amount over the summer.

You need a UK iTunes account, log into that, update the app.

Still, betting online while in the US is illegal pretty much.

Ok thanks. I have done that. Re logged back into my old uk iTunes and updated it. I saw that espn show a lot of cricket, Im only really interested in County cricket and test match cricket, and it seems espn show only the Mickey Mouse format (t20). The only reason I logged into ladbrokes was 1 to check my account and 2 I couldn't think of any other website that is restricted. My account as expected was empty so it's since been closed to not be tempted.
