I'm sure it's not just me, WTF is going on with the weather? Triple figure temeratures for the last few days and then down 40 degree's today. I'm not complaining; mid 60's works for me. And I'm glad I don't ever need a snow blower or one of those things that heats your car engine before you get up.

The temperatures are below average this year, because it has rained so much. It has rained 2-3 times a week ( or more) for months, and almost every day for several weeks. Needless to say, the humidity is way up!

I'm hot. We just moved to a new house in New England and are trying to get some repairs & basic gardening done. The National Weather Service website predicts a high of 79 degrees for our area today but already it's 89 according to our back garden thermometer. So I've stopped believing the NWS.
We were also going to try to get through this summer without buying an air conditioner. We've got several large & small fans, which do stir the air nicely. But the humidity is really starting to sap our energy, as well as make all household surfaces sticky & damp. Yesterday's humidity was 96%, though thankfully today's is better, 78%.

We have the opposite problems in CA, temperatures last week touched the hottest ever recorded on Earth (Death Valley) and it's the driest year on record. Humidity isn't usually a factor here, but it has been very humid, no idea why as it hasn't rained for ages. First time I've consistently had the air con on.

its lovely here in Northern CA - we hit an all time high last week - it hit 70 which is the hottest day since 1942!!! I have to say that it feels much hotter- I have no idea why, maybe something to do with the trees? Usually its cool and foggy - that will be august I guess
Went "down south" to Santa Rosa for bio's last week..oh my -it hit 112 on the way down!!! hard to take!

We've been 5 miles from the sun for a week. I hate it, and the humidity to boot which is unusual. Loads of thunder and lightening in the mountains, we are lower down and got a few warm rain drops. But over 105 for 6 days in a row and now finally the weather has broke and we are under 100 today and all weekend so they say.
San Francisco looks down right cold in comparison.

It's as hot as a bastard here. And humid too, which is nice. If I don't ever post again it's because I've dissolved.

I've been hiking all through summer so far in Scottsdale (in the McDowells), and I can now hike in 105 heat and full sun without too much problem (I've learned all about electrolytes, etc, and drink over 3 liters of water in a few hours ...). I'm preparing for a 'rim to rim' (Grand Canyon south-to-north rim) hike maybe next year, when you have to be ready for 100+ at the base of the Grand Canyon. I'm back in the bay area this weekend and was expecting cooler weather but it was over 110 in Vacaville yesterday! Seems to be back to normal today - 70 right now in Walnut Creek, 63 in SF ...
Now that I'm getting used to it, I learning to love the feeling of being hot and sweating like a pig!
