Default "Hoarders"

.... anyone watching it on A&E??

OMG. Damn. Can't believe there are people who live like that; decomposed cats et all which 'disappeared' one day.

On a lighter note, "Steven Seagal Lawman" looks pretty entertaining!!

Not sure how long you have been in the US but there used to be a show in the UK called A Life of Grime it was a documentary following several areas of enviromental health dept in London. On of the stories it followed was an old polish guy who lived like a pack rat. He had no running water/toilet and kept everything. Can you imagine living like that

I have watched quite a few episodes of Hoarders-- although the last couple of shows that I have seen appeared to be less of a psychological issue and more to do with the people being lazy, which isn't quite as interesting to me.

Side note: I much prefer Intervention.

UK Nova and The Box have got 'Grimebusters' and 'Grimefighters'. Quite stomach turning. One manager said that people living in that state used to be rare, but is now much more commonplace. And it's not all elderly infirm people - they quite often find evidence of children having lived there. Horrifying but fascinating.

I've seen several episodes of Hoarders, and yes that one with the decomposed cats was absolutely horrible. I admit I cried.

I also like Intervention. The best episode I've seen of Intervention was where the parents moved to the USA (I think from Venezuela, or El Salvador?) with their three sons, to give them a better life in the USA. Two of the sons ended up drug addicts, and the father was trying to love them enough to get them to shape up. I felt so bad for the dad, he seemed like such a sweetheart, a very loving father, not understanding that he was being an enabler to his sons' addictions. Very moving.

I just knew you'd like that one.

It's Pawn Stars, which is even funnier in DH's accent.

I had tears in my eyes too.....just at how desperately sad the whole family relationship was. I don;t know why it got to me so bad, but I felt awful.

Earlier today we lit a candle that we didnt like the smell of. Rather than put it away again for another day, I immediately threw it away saying "I'm NOT hoarding stuff!!"

My husband and I were just talking about that show last night.....we watched when we lived in the UK.. Had to feel pretty sorry for the guy, he seemed very sad. At least he had a decent place to go to in the end.

I saw that last night. I hope he's a better cop than he was an actor. In last night's episodes he was in some pretty serious situations. What gets me is the reaction of some of the people he arrests. Some people just stare unbelievingly, some even want his autograph. Sooner or later he's going to be shot by some gang-banger just for bragging rights. I'm just curious as to why he's doing it in the first place. I heard that he's not a rookie, he's been at this for years, but why? I'm sure he's a millionaire from all those movies, even if they were terrible. On the plus side, I think his presence may make it easier to defuse tense situations once the thugs realize who he is. They may drop their guns out of sheer bewilderment.
