That's a good one, it's because we live on such a little Island they think we must bump into her all the time while out shopping

When I was a kid I remember it being massive when Diana and Charles got married, all the neighbours had bunting out across the streets and we had a street party, red white and blue everywhere. Shame those days have gone really. Even if you don't like the Royal family, the community spirit that existed back then doesn't exist anymore.

I'm not sure it has in all places. In the early 90's, I went to Walsall (Birmingham) to spend some time with a classmates family (from boarding school). It was summer & they were all sat out in the street, drinking tea etc etc, chatting with the neighbours & listening to a gramophone, it was great. I still imagine they do it on a lovely summers day, or at least I hope they do.

I'm not sure they do that in the north anymore. Nice places where it used to be predominantly working class are now unaffordable unless you're a doctor or wealthy businessman.
Now its either council estates or posh villages where no one talks to each other.
If I was going to go back and live in England I think I'd become a vicar so I could be like Dawn French and live in Dibley.

I love the Queen and think that she has done a fantastic job. I don't want her to stop what she is doing either.

I love 'The Vicar of Dibley', I watch it to get my Brit-fix, which I need often, hence my daily visits to BE land!!! I wouldn't say they were really working class people, they were loaded (their son was a full boarder at a very good boarding school) & their house was huge! Although they were very grounded people, I wish I were still in touch with them.
