Default hits home

An email was just sent out to all the parents of the kids at our high school. A gun (apparently hidden) was found on the school grounds by some students this morning.

The principal is applauding the actions of the kids who found it and reported it and saying that the safety of our kids relies on everyone. Since when did kids have to start looking out for themselves because the bloody adults don't???

Now, I want to get on the next plane home.

Not much different to the UK. one of the schools I worked in they found knifes in the locker search at least once a month. Only the occasional gun though.

Just you wait until Saturday when Cal stuff your lot and you'll really be ready to go.

Just kidding, I agree with you 100%. 10 years here and still can't get my head around the gun thing.

Almost as scary as guns being fired randomly in the street. A lot depends on which parts of the UK you have experienced. Also sometimes the UK gives a sense of security because guns are banned. I have seen more violence on a Saturday night in the UK than I have ever seen in the US.

Already done in a lot of schools, both in the US and the UK.

High school kids should be learning to look out for themselves. Yes, the school should be looking out for them, and a gun should not have made its way onto school premises, but the seniors are going to be out in the big wide world this time next year and will not (or should not) be wrapped in cotton wool then.
