Default Hillary 2016

It seems that expats in the U.S. run 80% democrat or independent vs 20% soft republican (very unscientific observation).

With H R Clinton being the far ahead democrat front runner is she your choice?

Doesn't matter if you are eligible to vote or not, just curious as to your opinion, or plan B.

Hilary Clinton is in roughly the same place on the political spectrum as David Cameron. And I didn't vote for him a few weeks back. I'd much rather have Bernie Sanders, but he's way too much of a leftie for public consumption in the US. Hilary would be OK, but I'd like to see another worthy Democratic challenger too.

She's might be democrat and female, but I don't like her. She wouldn't have my vote for democratic candidate, if I were eligible.

it's entirely based on gut feeling - she may have started out life coming from a relatively normal middle class family, but she's spent so long in the political arena that she's been entirely sucked in to that mindset. I realise it's a relatively small issue, but the thing around using her own email server instead of the government one smacks far too much of 'rules are for little people'.

However, should she end up being the democratic candidate in 2016, then I'd guess she'd be the lesser of two evils compared to whatever wingnut the Republican Party comes up with.

No. I'm going to have to register as a democrat to vote for Bernie Sanders in the primary as our state has closed primaries.

I really don't trust Clinton, nor Obama. If I'd have been eligible to vote in 2012 I would probably have voted Romney.

That said, I don't see a viable candidate in the GOP field that is even going to be able to give HRC a real challenge.

Yeah there has been plenty of discussion of the Gop candidates in the other thread. Each one seems to have nasty habit of opening their mouths.

I won't be eligible to vote this time around, but I wouldn't be miffed if she secured the democratic nomination.

Personally I like Elizabeth Warren. There's still time for an unknown Obama-like challenge to come out of the thicket.

Things that I want to see happen in the US in the next 10 to 20 years: further healthcare reform, education reform, reduction in defence spending, better controls on lobbying and electoral campaigning/financing, eradication of the death sentence, much tighter gun control and the introduction of paid maternity leave.
How much of this is realistic?

One of the articles on PACs below is hilarious :

Q: What is a political action committee?
A: A PAC is a living, breathing organism that is capable of swallowing hundreds of millions of dollars and giving birth to a single American leader.

Q: What is the purpose of super PACs?
A: To counteract the excessive influence ordinary voters exert on U.S. elections.

Q: Who can contribute to a super PAC?
A: Any entity ranging in size from a small packaged foods conglomerate to a giant telecommunications conglomerate.

Huckabee's profile is pretty accurate:

Campaign Goal: Strengthen salary negotiating position with Fox News
Tour Bus: To-scale replica of Noah’s Ark

And Carson:

First Thing He Does Each Morning: Decides whether to be gay or straight for next 24 hours
