High gas prices causing you to drive differently?
just thought id mention that over the holiday weekend i spent a lot of time in my car.
My little TT usually affords me 22mpg.
I drove across state a few times, up and down mountain roads cruising at 65 instead of 80. Whenever i would come to a long downhill stretch i would put the car in to neutral and coast.
I managed an impressive 34.5 mpg! 555 miles when i normally get about 350!
Anyone else driving differently?

I try to make my errands count by getting as much as I can in one trip.
Otherwise I'm happy that I'm 10 minutes from work on a bad day and only need to fill up every pay period. Sometimes longer.

We smashed into the Hyundai to drive to Kansas City this weekend instead of taking the pickup.

OH uses the Triumph to go out and give estimates on jobs. Today he took his Jeep instead of the loaded work van. He just lets people know he will be showing up on a bike to give them a quote, some people don't like it, most do because it's old and British. I'm really lucky to have a Super Walmart, Target, and two other supermarkets within a mile of me. If it's not too hot I even walk!

I'm getting to spend more time at home rather than getting in and having my wife demand we go somewhere. My driving habits changed anyways as we replaced our wrecked car. I don't even consider taking my 1989 Chevy G20 anywhere unless we need to move something big.
Gas prices are also making me think about the car I get once I can afford another.

Now that the kids have all left home we do very few long drives; the main one is to Cape Cod and back to visit with our daughter maybe twice a year (it's an 800 mile round trip.) For the last two or three times, we've used the Toyota Echo (45 mpg) instead of the Subaru Outback (24 mpg.)

Driving less. Last night we walked to our neighborhood restaurant instead of driving and I have toned down the speed on the highway as well, maintaining a 55-60 mph.

I try to drive less. I combine my errands into one trip, and I cut back on the number of times I go to Tucson to see friends and family. I've been studying bus routes to work, but I can't stomach the extra 40 minutes it will add to my commute each way (already takes me 40 minutes by car...would take 80 by bus...ugh).

Luckily I've always used mass transit to get to NYC. 25 minutes by train and I'm at 42nd Street. 5 minutes later I'm in the office.

My habits havent really changed at all. I still drive the same 13 yr old Mitsubishi to the same job - 26 mile trip. I've no idea what the economy on my car is like, I put about $50 every 10 days or so (it used to be $30). So the fuel thing is costing approx an extra $2 per day. As for errands I've always done them on the way home from work anyway....

Try to avoid driving at all and zing around whatever route that won't leave me standing...not seeing the inlaws as much, but then that's a 500 mile round trip, $100 all in with tolls and the like, so I try and avoid it....but we've got to head up in June sometime for grandfathers funeral, finally be off the ice.
