I have checked (online) Bloomingdales, Macy's and have done a general search on google.. Nowt, Nadda.. :(

Any ideas ladies? I'm not sure how many of you are on the west coast? Where is M&S and BHS when you need them :sneaky:

ps.. have no dress or shoes either.. They will be purchased and sneaked into the house and disguised as "oh, that old thing"...

Surely you must need a new handbag. :)

I think M&S will now send goods to the US.

Google the race course and try to find some photo's to see what everybody else does..:)

That'll be me!

I tried everywhere .. bridal shops (crap choice), Saks, Macys, Dillards .. to name but a few.

Ended up getting a fascinator in John Lewis when I got back to the UK .. which won't help you much Samba, but didn't want you running around all over like I did.

I don't think I've ever worn a hat, period. (Unless you count the five or so times I've worn a baseball cap, not the same.)

Maybe it's just more common to wear hats in the UK?

But I like your thinking there MrEmjoy - kinda like multi-functional - loo's are always too far away.. too much alcohol is bond to be consumed.. Yeah, I'm liking that idea more and more! Few GB stickers on it to be festive - sorted

No need for hats at the Del - loads of people will be in the most casual clothes!!

I usually wear a pretty calf-length skirt....some of the girls even wear jeans.

Are you going on a Friday? Free concert in the evening!

yea..everybody makes a big deal out of going to the races in the UK (only when its a special Race event though) and its all about the bigger and more outrageous the hat, the better..especially Ladies Day at Ascot..

Back in my youth, hats were the thing. I have so many pictures of me as a 17, 18, and 19 year old wearing a hat. I loved them and still do today. Here in the NYC area, the only people I see wearing hats are African-Americans. The older ladies are still in the mode where one was not properly dressed without a hat and you might also see them wearing gloves as well. My next door neighbor, who is only in her 30's, also wears hats every Sunday for church services and all of her 4 boys go to services wearing suits and shined shoes. I think its great and rather miss that aspect of a Sunday morning from my life.

I just found this.. I am going on opening day, AND it's Hat day - Looking at these women I think I shouldn't wear a hat in protest of their ridiculous-ness :D

Could your best friend not fed ex one out to you from uk and perhaps the out fit. You could then tell Daz you have borrowed it from a friend.

Just a thought

Ideally, what kind of dress, shoes, hat would you like to find?
