Hat Crisis..
.. ok, in the scale of things it's not strictly a crisis.. but I have a day at the races on 22nd July - and (a) I have left it incredibly late and (b) it appears that, even though I thought I lived in a place where women often dress up and 'do lunch' and attend charity/society gatherings , I can not for the life of me find somewhere that sells hats for special occasions!
I have checked (online) Bloomingdales, Macy's and have done a general search on google.. Nowt, Nadda.. :( Any ideas ladies? I'm not sure how many of you are on the west coast? Where is M&S and BHS when you need them :sneaky: ps.. have no dress or shoes either.. They will be purchased and sneaked into the house and disguised as "oh, that old thing"... |

But I like your thinking there MrEmjoy - kinda like multi-functional - loo's are always too far away.. too much alcohol is bond to be consumed.. Yeah, I'm liking that idea more and more! Few GB stickers on it to be festive - sorted  |
Re: Hat Crisis..
In CA, I think a sombrero might work.

Re: Hat Crisis..
Bloomies and Lord and Taylor and the like will have hats. They are sold in the accessories department alongside the handbags.
|
Re: Hat Crisis..
I don't think the ladies here wear hats to the races..I'm only saying this because I know we had one poster that was struggling to find a hat for a wedding..
Google the race course and try to find some photo's to see what everybody else does..:) |

Ended up getting a fascinator in John Lewis when I got back to the UK .. which won't help you much Samba, but didn't want you running around all over like I did. |

[QUOTE] I don't think I've ever worn a hat, period. (Unless you count the five or so times I've worn a baseball cap, not the same.) Maybe it's just more common to wear hats in the UK? |

I just found this.. I am going on opening day, AND it's Hat day - Looking at these women I think I shouldn't wear a hat in protest of their ridiculous-ness :D

Re: Hat Crisis..
Here are a couple places on the internet to purchase hats.
http://www.samuelshats.com/Catalog.html http://www.villagehatshop.com/womens_dress_hats.html If you don't like any of those, I'm sure you can find them at Rodeo Drive (however hubby will have to work a lot of hours for your hat). |

Re: Hat Crisis..
You might be surprised on the turnaround time. Maybe worth a check, particularly if it's not too custom?

Look at White House Black Market. Do you have one of those? They have some cute dresses on the site that might fit the bill.
